Fall Block Party
I would like to thank the neighbors on Shropshire
North and Shropshire Main for hosting the Fall Block Party. The weather
was beautiful and the cool night air was so refreshing after a long hot summer.
It really put everyone in a party mood. The attendance was wonderful. We had 53
neighbors who came out to celebrate. The food was delicious---we have a lot of
good cooks is our neighborhood. We all enjoyed eating ,drinking, and socializing
with SLOA neighbors. The fire pits really added to our fun and festive
atmosphere. Many thanks to Nancy Herthum, Kathy Gillies, Heidi Fux, Trevah
Oliver, Dannah McCauley and Margot Nickle for their hard work. Great job ladies!

March 20, 2010 Lake Clean UP

Saturday, March 20, 2010 a group of
volunteer residents met behind our levy to clean up some of the debris that had
been deposited on Somerset Lake property. This debris washed up during the
winter flooding. This clean up was coordinated by your SLOA Landscape Committee.
We were excited with the number of residents who pitched in for clean up and
amazed ourselves with how much we accomplished. The City came and picked up all
of our bags and piles of sticks from the Greenway. Thanks to all who
participated.
The Landscape Committee is planning another beautification project for our
neighborhood. On a weekend between April 17th and May 15th, 2010 we will
purchase a palette of Bermuda sod and use 8 X 6 pieces to sod the slopes of the
levy where there is erosion. We will plan the date around an extended weather
forecast that includes rain after the planting date. We hope for a large
community participation for this necessary project and will ask all participants
to bring a drink & snack to share on the levy when we finish our work.
We actually had fun during our clean up and hope to see even more folks for our
sodding party. Stay tuned for dates and specifics
We have open places on our Committee and hope more residents will join the
Landscape Committee.
